Abstract

Teenagers must be integrated into the local church body, so they can grow as disciples of Christ by being in community with the entire church family. Youth groups play an important role in the discipleship process of teenagers by allowing them to relate to God alongside of their peers and by contextualizing the truths of the Bible so teens can understand them. However, teenagers should not be consistently isolated from the rest of the church family into youth ministries. Beyond the local church, teenagers are segregated from adults in today’s society. Believers in the local church are part of the one body of Christ, and Christian teenagers are as well a part of Christ’s body. I hope that by looking at teenagers’ need for family, theological support, and particle ideas for integration, church leaders and congregants will be convinced to integrate teenagers into the local church body.
