Abstract

A quantitative correlational study examined the relationship between employees' personalities and mission alignment in non-profit organizations serving individuals with disabilities in South Florida. Using the True Colors personality assessment and a custom mission alignment survey, data from 53 employees were analyzed. Findings revealed that the "Blue" personality type had the strongest effect on mission alignment perceptions, with the "Green" type also showing significant impact. However, ANOVA results indicated no statistically significant differences in overall mission alignment scores across personality types, suggesting other organizational factors also play a role. Key limitations included a small sample size, which constrained statistical power, and the use of convenience sampling, potentially introducing selection bias. The reliance on self-reported data could result in response bias, and the cross-sectional design limited causal inferences. Future research should employ larger, more diverse samples, longitudinal designs to track changes over time, and mixed-method approaches for deeper insights. The study's findings have practical implications for non-profit organizations, particularly in the areas of recruitment, training, and retention. Organizations should consider integrating personality assessments in recruitment to ensure alignment with organizational missions, particularly favoring "Blue" and "Green" personalities. Tailored engagement strategies and mission-centric training programs can enhance mission alignment and employee satisfaction. These approaches can help improve engagement, reduce turnover, and build a dedicated workforce committed to the organization’s mission of serving individuals with disabilities.
