Abstract

The purpose of this study is to review the research on business as mission and religion in India and study the effects of business as mission in India. The researcher conducts interviews to write case studies evaluating three business as mission entities in India. The case studies strive to determine how business as mission measures success. The researcher tests the quadruple bottom line as a means of measurement. The paper concludes that the quadruple bottom line is sufficient for measuring economic impact, environmental impact, and societal impact, but not necessarily spiritual impact. Caution should be used because of the multiple variations of business as mission companies, including the nature of the business, the age of the business, and the city in which it is located. According to this study, business as mission entities that operate in all four components of the quadruple bottom line have more measurable success in their finances and holistic areas of influence
